Helen began her acting career with the new writing company Loose Exchange. She has continued to be associated with new theatre writing - most notably at the Royal Court (The Madness of Esme and Shaz) and at the Bush Theatre (The Touch, Waiting at the Water’s Edge and Sixty-Six Books) - and with major revivals of modern classics such as Top Girls (Aldwych) and Equus (Oxford Stage Company). Other theatre work includes Chasing the Moment (Arcola Theatre), The Sleepers Den (Southwark Playhouse), PoW! (Paines Plough), Hecuba (Gate Theatre), Hard Times and Grimm Tales (Scarborough), and extensive work with Scarlet Theatre.
On television she is best known for her five years as Fiona Pearce in the long-running drama London’s Burning. Other TV credits include The Last Weekend, Extras, Trial and Retribution, Eastenders, Holby City, Doctors, The Bill, Serious & Organised, Element of Doubt, Firm Friends, Capstick’s Law and the children’s series Josie Smith.
Film work includes Cass and The Widowmaker.
